Text Campaign a Victory for Life!

In response to the tension in Gaza and Israel during January 2009, The Board of Deputies of British Jews launched a “Saving Lives Together” Text campaign at the rally in Trafalgar Square.

The campaign which was set up to raise funds for hospitalised victims on both sides and promote communal care and concern for all people, regardless of faith or politic was the first campaign of its type. The response was overwhelming, with thousands of texts received and an Early Day Motion was brought by Andrew Dismore MP for Hendon as well as gaining international press in The Jerusalem Post and
New York JTA.

The initiative was facilitated by the International Committee of the Red Cross, and
funds were shared between their work in Gaza medical centres and Laniado Hospital.
